What Volunteers Say

Read personal stories from students describing their social service experiences.

Amoolya Sharan

My time with NSS has been full of moments I genuinely enjoyed and carried something back from. Teaching in government schools especially taught me that impact isn't always loud - sometimes it's just one child understanding a topic a little better because you took the time to explain it differently. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam once spoke about how educators carry the responsibility of nurturing curiosity and moral character in their students, becoming role models in the process - and standing in front of a classroom made that idea real for me. A child doesn't just learn a subject from you, they quietly learn a little of how to be, too, and that gave me a quiet sense of responsibility to stay ethically upright and give back to the society that has given me so much. Every event, every small effort, has left me more grounded and more aware of the world beyond my own bubble - and if NSS is about "not me, but you", this is where I felt it the most.

My first year in NSS IIT Patna has been a journey of learning, service, and personal growth. From participating in social initiatives to working with dedicated volunteers, every activity helped me become more responsible, confident, and disciplined. NSS gave me opportunities to interact with people, work as a team, and understand the importance of giving back to society. The supportive seniors and coordinators made every event a valuable learning experience. Being a part of NSS has made my first year of college more meaningful, and I look forward to contributing even more in the coming years.
